The Helpful Uses of Aromatic Reactions

Whenever we as human beings inhale a beautiful fragrance, we go into somewhat of a trance until our next breath. This happens because fragrances, perfumes and/or colognes cause aromatic reactions that can be both relaxing and quite helpful in so many ways. On the other hand, when an unpleasant odor crosses our passages, we tend to frown and become somewhat tense and irritated about the experience until the odor passes or we hold our breath. Whatever the case may be, we have very unique and unusual ways of responding to odor, fragrances and smells.
While the fundamental function of the sense of smell may warn us of immediate danger and so is a protecting sense, an added aspect enhances our sense of pleasures in living. We can give added enhancement to our sense of smell as well as cultivate it so that we can have better outlook on life; especially nature, whenever we inhale the smell of a beautiful red rose or enjoy the freshness of rain forests. All of which can create aromatic reactions that could be helpful or harmful based upon what you’re allergic to. This brings us to a rather unique question: How many of us are aware that our sense of smell is directly linked to respiration.
Not only is it linked, but it’s intimately connected with the memory centre of our brains which records previous memory sensory and experiences. A variety of aromas can instinctively or unconsciously have an effect on or send off certain mood swings, deep emotions and thoughts based upon our involvement with certain situations. These are all aromatic reactions that are cause by our exposure to certain smells. All it takes is a subtle whiff of something and we are suddenly transfixed into present, past and/or future encounters. This can easily be misconstrued or even properly defined as somewhat of transportation into time or “taken back” to some point in our lives where a certain aroma, smell or scent of perfume reminded of something or someone. This is one of many demonstration of amazing power of aromatic reactions.
It’s quite interesting to discover that many uses of perfumes to place in the past. One of the most common of them all for fragrances was used to camouflage or cover the smell present in unsanitary places. Bad odors in unsanitary conditions can either be endured or taken care of through the use of deodorizers, scented perfumes or incents. Cottage gardens besides being an aesthetical value featured aromatic plants in order to improve the atmosphere, immediately. There are even situations in which aromatic reactions in the form of perfumes were being used for the healing of certain complications. It was during the times in which Egyptian priests resorted to healing epilepsy or in order to ward off the disease through the inhalation of aromatic oils or perfumes.
Now we can take at a look at modern scientific tests and discover that using perfumes, fragrances and certain scents as an aromatic reaction can be quite helpful as antiseptics, anti-viral as well as in the healing process for certain symptoms of illnesses.
